the staff at Royal Lodge were incredibly helpful and cheerful throughout my stay. They even went above and beyond in accommodating my excited pup. the hotel is situated on the River Wye, making it the perfect spot for canoeing, kayaking, and enjoyable walks. The food served at the hotel was also excellent, making my overall experience very positive. cons: Nothing to mention.

Magnificent situation and scenery - second to none - and reached via a long narrow cul-de-sac - (but with several other hotels, so not secluded). Marvellous walking and climbing, canoeing on the doorstep. Pleasantly surprised by prices.

Quaint and quirky, could use some updates. Clean throughout. Friendly staff and good food, especially breakfast. Nice rooms for guests with pets. Beautiful location with stunning scenery. Efficient access to outside for pets. Plenty of hot water. Helpful staff. Pricey but good breakfast.

Staff very nice and changed our room to one with a bath on request, just a shame that we couldn't use it on the Sunday as the hot water gets turned off for several hours during the day (we weren't warned about this). Also we could not get back into the hotel at 10pm because the door was locked and there was no external door key on the key ring (again not told door would be locked and key should have been on key ring). Had to go and find someone who worked in the hotel that we had seen by chance in the local pub to come and let us in.

Felt cosy, no reason to complain.

Super setting below Symonds Yat Rock and on the edge of the River Wye. Very nice dining room with good food. It's an old building so not smart and modern but they have made the best of it. Our room and bathroom were very spacious.
It wasn't the quiet retreat that we had expected but because of the canoeing crowds melted away on Saturday evening.

Stayed an extra night as we found the hotel excellent value for money, and the restaurant menus of a high standard, you would be hard to please if you could not find a meal to suite, and all meals we had were cooked to perfection. Rooms had good facilities, and were clean and well furnished.

Amazing location with glorious views. The building has been developed taking into consideration period features. It had a sizeable carpark. Staff were very efficient at check in/out and in the restaurant/bar.
Although the menu was extensive the dishes failed to live up to expectations and were rather to quirky.

During my recent stay at a lovely hotel tucked away by the river, I was delighted to experience the breathtaking view from my room. The sight of the tranquil river flowing by was simply mesmerizing. The spacious room was well-maintained and provided all the comfort I needed for a relaxing stay. The large and well-tended gardens added to the beauty of the surroundings, offering a serene spot to unwind. Additionally, the convenient car parking made it hassle-free to explore the area. The breakfast in the charming dining room was delicious, and I thoroughly enjoyed the picturesque view of the river while dining. The friendly staff went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. I had an amazing time and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Lovely position with rooms overlooking the river Wye. Very easy access to walks, gentle to more strenuous. Good access to river activities, canoes river trips. Food at the hotel was very good. Outside areas lovely but weather dependent. Excellent value for money as a last minute booking
Room far too hot. Bed uncomfortable Limited indoor public areas (necessary during inclement weather)
